Consuming a healthy superfood smoothie each morning can be very beneficial for you. Not only that it can replace a meal depending on your diet, but they contain different vitamins, minerals, healthy fats necessary for your overall health.

Superfood smoothie with Coconut Oil

Coconut oil in such form, consists 90% medium-chain fatty acids (or Triglycerides). They are easily digestible and serve as a good source for energy. These triglycerides can help the body to speed the metabolism. They also play a huge role in moisturizing the skin and keeping it smooth, by trapping the moisture to escape the pores.

The coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is a medium-chain fatty acid. A similar concentration of lauric acid in the coconut oil, can be found only in the human breastfeed milk. The lauric acid helps in improving your immune system and to fight off infections, it is Beneficial for the heart and Boosts key mineral absorption (calcium and magnesium). It is especially important to mention that the coconut oil has antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and antimicrobial effect.

 

Ingredients[1]:

  • A cup of almond or coconut milk (water works too)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 fresh or frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Preparation:

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend for around 30-45 seconds or until nice and smooth. You might want to blend everything except the coconut oil first, then drizzle it on and blend for another 5-10 seconds to avoid clumping.
