In  West India, Barbados, Jamaica, Suriname, Cuba and other countries of Central and South America, grows the famous tropical acerola cherries (Malpighia glabra). It reminds us of the citrus fruit, with the fleshy part divided into slices. Ripe fruit, depending on the species, can be dark red, light or orange.
